Job summary

Armor Health is seeking a Day Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Riverside Regional Jail in North Prince George, VA. This full-time role is 7am–7:30pm with rotating weekends, focused on delivering holistic nursing care in a correctional setting.

You will assess patients, develop care plans, document assessments and triage decisions, administer medications, and support physicians in procedures, all while maintaining safety and high-quality care for incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state of Virginia or equivalent
• CPR certification
• Proficient with electronic medical records
• Able to pass Level 2 background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic RN nursing care in a correctional setting
• Assess physical, psychological, and social dimensions; document admission health history
• Document and communicate triage decisions to health care provider
• Develop individualized nursing care plans with care teams
• Implement medical care plans including diagnostics and orders
• Administer medications using proper techniques and routes; manage nutrition and diet plans
• Assist physician in procedures as necessary

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic (RN) nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assess physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients; obtain health history and provide a written assessment of patients upon admission.
• During custody and upon discharge, document and communicate triage decisions to the appropriate health care provider.
• Develop individual nursing care plans using nursing assessment protocols in consultation with health care providers.
• Implement medical care plans to include diagnostic tests, EKGs, etc., according to physician orders.
• Administer medications using proper techniques, procedures, and approved routes of administration; nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
• Assist physician in medical or minor surgical procedures as necessary.

Qualifications

• Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current CPR certificate
• Proficient with electronic medical records
• Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance to include background check and drug screen
