Job summary

UP Health System - Portage is seeking an RN to educate on childbirth within the OB team, delivering education programs and supporting expectant families. The role emphasizes teaching, communication, and clinical skills to promote informed birth experiences.

Applicants should hold a Michigan RN license and an accredited nursing degree, with BLS-HCP and childbirth education experience preferred. This PRN/0.001 FTE position focuses on varied day shifts with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license and an accredited nursing degree (associate's preferred).
• BLS Health Care Provider certification is required or obtained.
• Childbirth educator experience or certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate childbirth education programs according to standards.
• Provide education and support to expectant families to promote informed decisions and positive birth experiences.
• Demonstrate teaching, verbal and written communication to diverse audiences.
• Address cultural, physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of childbirth and parenting.
• Present information confidently in group and one-on-one settings.
• Utilize clinical judgment and problem-solving while working independently and with the team.
• Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred). Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Previous experience in OB and Childbirth Education
• Childbirth Educator Certification (preferred)
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination
