Job summary

Lifepoint Health's UP Health System - Portage is seeking an RN childbirth educator to join a dedicated OB team in Michigan. The role emphasizes education, patient support, and adapting to diverse birth experiences while maintaining professional standards.

The candidate should hold a Michigan RN license with an associate degree in nursing (bachelor's preferred) and have OB education experience. BLS-HCP certification and annual influenza vaccination are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have current Michigan RN license.
• Associated nursing degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) required.
• OB and Childbirth Education experience preferred.
• Childbirth Educator Certification preferred.
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate childbirth education programs per standards of care, using interpersonal, critical thinking and clinical skills.
• Educate and support expectant parents and families for informed birth experiences.
• Demonstrate teaching, verbal, and written communication to engage diverse audiences.
• Address cultural, physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of childbirth, lactation, and parenting.
• Present information confidently in group and individual settings.
• Use clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving independently and collaboratively.
• Maintain composure in fast-paced environments and take appropriate action when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include
