Job summary

Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B). This Magnet hospital emphasizes high-quality care and ongoing professional learning in a fast-paced environment with on-site telemetry monitoring.

The patient population includes cardiopulmonary conditions such as chest pain, Afib, heart failure, COPD and pneumonia. The RN will perform assessments, IVs, dressings, medication management and teach patients and families.

Qualifications

• Licensed as RN in the State of Illinois.
• Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.
• Must be able to position/transfer an average adult patient.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and perform IV/IM procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for cardiopulmonary patients in a fast-paced unit.
• Monitor telemetry, assess patient status, and respond to changes.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and manage dressings.
• Educate patients and families as part of care planning.

*** $20,000 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE *** This is a Full Time Night Shift Position Three 12 hour shifts per week (6:45pm - 7:15am), every third weekend rotation

Registered Nurse-Cardiac Short Stay Unit (6B) is a fast paced, quick turnaround unit with frequent admissions and discharges. All beds have “on-site” telemetry monitoring. Many opportunities for assessments, teaching, IVs, chest tubes, dressings, analysis of laboratory values and medication administration and management. Patient population is primarily focused on cardiopulmonary diagnosis such as Chest pain, Acute onset Afib, Heart failure, COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia, Acute PE/DVT. Cath lab and CVOR post procedural patients such as Cardiac stents, Ablations, Watchmans, Pacemaker/ICD insertion and Video Assisted Thoracoscopy surgery (VATS).

• Must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required.
• Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as IV insertion and IM injections.
• Environmental working conditions include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
