Job summary

St. Joseph Hospice is hiring a Part-Time Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) in Lake Charles, LA. The RN will assess patients, support the Hospice Plan of Care, educate families, and coordinate with physicians and the hospice team in a patient-centered care model.

Qualified candidates hold a Louisiana RN license, CPR certification, and have 2+ years in relevant settings. Hospice experience is preferred; EMS experience a plus. ESOP ownership; mileage reimbursement and competitive pay provided.

Qualifications

• Louisiana RN license required.
• Minimum of two (2) years full-time RN experience in oncology, acute care, long-term care, hospice, or home health; two years in hospice may substitute for RN.
• Current CPR certification
• Current automobile insurance and valid driver\'s license
• Knowledge of EMR is required
• Previous hospice experience preferred
• Compassionate RN with excellent time management skills

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessment.
• Assist in developing and implementing the Hospice Plan of Care.
• Educate patient and family on Plan of Care, including medications, dressing changes, oxygen administration, and end-of-life care.
• Serve as liaison between physician, patient/family, and hospice team.
• Maintain accurate and updated medical records.
• Make routine supervisory visits and participate in on-call schedule.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required in State of Louisiana
• Minimum of two (2) years full-time experience as an RN, either in oncology, an acute care setting with direct patient care, a long-term care facility, hospice or home health care. Two (2) of experience in hospice care as an LPN may be substituted for the required 2 years of experience as an RN
• Current CPR certification required

• Compassionate RN with great time management skills

Job Duties:

• Act as primary liaison between physician, patient/family and hospice team

• Participates in agency on-call schedule
• Abide by company policies and procedures, compliance guidelines, applicable laws, and regulations promptly reporting any suspected violation of compliance standards
