Job summary

St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA, is hiring a full‑time Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to assess patients and implement the hospice plan of care.

The role requires an active Louisiana RN license, CPR certification, and strong time‑management skills, with EMR knowledge and a driver’s license. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years RN experience in hospice, oncology, or related fields; prior hospice experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Louisiana.
• Minimum two years RN experience in oncology, acute care, long-term care, hospice or home health care; two years hospice as an LPN may substitute for RN experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Current automobile insurance and valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of EMR.

Responsibilities

• Perform the initial and ongoing assessment of the patient.
• Assist in developing and implementing the hospice plan of care.
• Educate patient and family on plan of care, including medication administration, dressing changes, oxygen administration, hospice philosophy and care of the terminally ill patient.
• Act as primary liaison between physician, patient/family and hospice team.
• Maintain accurate and updated medical records.
• Make routine supervisory visits.
• Participate in agency on‑call schedule.
• Abide by company policies and procedures, compliance guidelines, applicable laws and regulations, promptly reporting any suspected violation of compliance standards
