Job summary

Total Safety is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to join their safety-focused team in Colorado. The RN will provide administrative, clerical and back-up medical support on site, including absence management, medical record maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling, data entry, emergency response (BLS), health surveillance testing (phlebotomy, vaccines, audiograms, spirometry) and coordination of medical accommodations with HR and leaders.

Qualifications

• Active Colorado RN license is required.
• CAOHC audiometry and NIOSH spirometry certifications are required.
• BLS Provider certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Administrative functions including handling phones, emails, scheduling, inventory, and data entry.
• Maintain confidential medical records (hard copy and electronic).
• Provide emergency response (BLS) and clinical care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses or injuries via telemedicine as needed.
• Conduct health surveillance tests (phlebotomy, vaccines, vision, ECG, urinalysis, audiograms, PFT).
• Coordinate return-to-work and fitness-for-duty processes with HR and leadership.

Job description

Total Safety is looking for a PRN - RN to add to their safety conscious team. The PRN will provide administrative, clerical and back-up medical support to customer site. Including, but not limited to: absence management, medical record maintenance, and other general administrative duties as assigned.

Brief Description

• Registered Nurse
• PRN role, expect 3-5 days/week during onboarding, then 1-3 days per week
• No weekends expected through 2026, but may be needed in the spring during Turnaround
• Must already have CAOHC audiogram and NIOSH spirometry certification

Summary Of Duties

• Administrative functions including answering phones, monitoring emails, scheduling appointments, inventory management, data entry
• Maintain confidential hard copy and electronic medical records
• Provide emergency response (BLS)
• Evaluate and treat occupational and non-occupational illness or injury, using telemedicine as needed
• Conduct health surveillance testing which includes phlebotomy, vaccine administration, vision exams, ECGs, urinalysis, audiograms, pulmonary function tests
• Review and action test results
• Perform case management functions including initiating follow-up with employees and leaders for medical absences and restricted duty, conduct or coordinate return to work/fitness for duty exams, contact offsite providers to clarify medical information or work status, coordinate case meetings with leaders and HR to address medical accommodations
• Support the alcohol and drug program including performing alcohol and drug screening, coordinating the random testing program, scheduling appointments, monitoring and actioning results, contacting related vendors as needed
• Provide site wellness programs such as blood pressure clinics, flu shot clinics
• Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned, within scope of practice

Hours / Schedule

• PRN role with part time (8-27 hours/week) needed currently but may vary/increase up to full-time hours based on work volume (e.g., vacation coverage, other workplace demands)
• Day shift with hours ranging from 0600 - 1900 (may vary)
• Shifts are usually 8-9 hours, 1-3 days per week
• Usually weekdays but could require weekends based on need (advanced notice provided)

Must-haves (minimum Requirements)

• Active Colorado licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Certification in audiometry (CAOHC) and spirometry (NIOSH)
• Adult Emergency First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED (BLS Provider)
• State-required certification to perform phlebotomy and vaccine administration (if applicable)
• Exceptional first aid proficiency with an ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
• Understanding of health and wellness programs, including support of medical surveillance and wellness programs
• An ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preference For

• Previous experience in a similar position or experience administering industrial health & safety programs
• Experience conducting health surveillance medicals
