Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists-Specialists One Day ASC in North Syracuse, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre-Op/PACU, per-diem position. The role focuses on high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phases of patient visits.

The RN will assess and prepare patients, document findings, and ensure discharge readiness while maintaining communication with surgeons and staff. Perioperative nursing experience is required and per-diem status applies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with providers, patients and peers.
• Maintain pace of abbreviated patient encounters in post-operative care.
• Specialized knowledge in perioperative nursing.
• Capable of decision making when applicable.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse, Pre-Op/PACU, per-diem

Salary Range: $36.00 To $50.00 Hourly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Pre-op/PACU RN will assist in providing high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phase of the patient's visit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery;
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct;
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure;
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition;
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria;
• Document all findings in patient files;
• Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort;
• Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician;
• Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care;
• Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
