Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists - Specialists One Day ASC in North Syracuse, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre-op/PACU, per-diem to support high-quality perioperative care.

The RN will assess and prepare patients before surgery, monitor post-operative status, and document findings. A minimum of 2 years PACU/critical care experience is required; strong communication and decision-making are essential for patient safety and workflow efficiency.

Registered Nurse, Pre-Op/PACU, per-diem

Salary Range: $36.00 To $50.00 Hourly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Pre-op/PACU RN will assist in providing high-quality care during the pre-op and post-op phase of the patient's visit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery;
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct;
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure;
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition;
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria;
• Document all findings in patient files;
• Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort;
• Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician;
• Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care;
• Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:

• Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience required;
• Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers;
• Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care;
• Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing;
• Capable of decision making when applicable.
