Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Level II Competent Registered Nurse to deliver patient-centered care using the nursing process, collaborating with the health team to improve quality in an assigned unit.

The RN provides assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, participates in performance improvement, and mentors new staff and students as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• BSN is preferred; ADN holders must obtain BSN within five years.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Additional certifications will be required per unit.
• 2 years of recent RN acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care using the nursing process with interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Coordinate patient/family involvement in care, including discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate the plan of care with the health team.
• Assist Leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care and improvement.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and quality initiatives.
• Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff.
• Act as point of contact on policies and procedures for nurses and health team.
• Engage in daily operational activities for a safe environment.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in unit, departmental and hospital committees.
• Provide education to patients and caregivers as relates to care plan.
• When assigned, serve as case manager coordinating multidisciplinary services.
• Maintain acceptable productivity standards as determined by leadership.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and staff meetings.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
