Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide age-appropriate, quality nursing care from admission to discharge. The RN participates in care planning, teaches patients and families, and collaborates with the health care team to deliver evidence-based outcomes.

The role requires a BSN (ADN with commitment to pursue BSN accepted in some cases), IL RN licensure, and BLS. ACLS/PALS and specialty certifications may be preferred for ER, pediatrics, or cardiology tracks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ADN may be acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of employment.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC or other certifications may be required for specialty roles.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status at admission or point of care.
• Organize health data so it is accurate, complete and accessible.
• Identify problems requiring immediate attention.
• Document diagnoses and plan of care.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and update as needed.
• Provide patient and family education based on evidence-based practice.
• Coordinate with care team and participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
