Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s Palos Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide direct patient care across the admission–discharge continuum. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a BSN (ADN acceptable with BSN plans), an IL RN license, and BLS. ER-specific credentials such as ACLS and PALS/ENPC/TNCC within a year are often required. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• BSN is required; ADN acceptable if committed to BSN within three years of employment.
• Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytic abilities.
• ER requires ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire; Pediatric ER requires TNCC within one year.
• Non-Invasive Cardiology prefers ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status on admission/point of care entry.
• Organize health data for accurate care planning.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention.
• Validate diagnoses with patient/family and care team.
• Document diagnoses and plan of care clearly.
• Initiate and update Problem List at admission.
• Discuss and align plan of care with patient/family.
• Plan discharge beginning at admission and involve team.
• Identify education needs for patient and family.
• Coordinate conferences to plan care as needed.
• Prioritize evidence-based nursing interventions.
• Provide patient and family education based on evidence and practice.
