Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is seeking a skilled RN or LPN to support palliative care coordination, triage calls, and pharmacy-related inquiries. This role involves serving as a liaison between physicians, staff, and patients to ensure smooth operation of patient care processes.

The ideal candidate has Louisiana nursing licensure and experience in oncology, infusion, or hospice settings, with strong pain management knowledge.

Qualifications

• RN or LPN license required by Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Phone triage experience highly preferred.
• Oncology, infusion and/or hospice experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge of pain management and oncology nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triage patient calls.
• Coordinate patient care and patient documents.
• Process medication orders and refills.
• Coordinate patient care requests and communications between staff and providers.

Job Description

SCOPE:

• Coordinate patient care requests, which occur by phone for palliative care and serves as a resource to staff.
• Reviews all incoming faxes to the office.
• Answers pharmacy calls and all medication refill requests.
• Coordinates physician orders (i.e., home health, hospice, hospital, etc).
• Serves as liaison between physician/provider and other facilities and a liaison between physician/provider and patient.

FUNCTIONS:

1. Triage patient calls.
2. Medication Orders.
3. Coordinate patient care and patient documents.
4. Perform Nursing Duties.
5. Serves as resource for all staff.
6. Perform other duties, as assigned.
