The role emphasizes standardization of care, patient-centered leadership, and collaboration across departments to improve survivorship and reduce the burden of cancer in the Louisiana region.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of LA is required.
• 1-3 years nursing experience in a clinic setting is required.
• 1 year oncology nursing experience is required, 2-5 years preferred.
• ON S/OCN certification preferred.
• Nurse Navigation certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Navigate cancer patients through the healthcare system to improve care coordination.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary meetings related to oncology care.
• Model patient-centered care and support continuous quality improvement within the cancer service line.

Job Description:

SCOPE:

The Radiation Oncology Nurse Navigator serves as an expert oncology population specific clinician, patient/client advocate and assists cancer/oncology patients/families to navigate the complex health care system in an organized, effective and efficient manner. This position will assist with the standardization and efficiency of care for patients in the cancer service line throughout the continuum of patient care. The Radiation Oncology Nurse Navigator models patient-centered care and assumes leadership responsibilities with high level contributions in direct patient interaction, the department, the service line, and across the institution.

• Nurse Navigation certification preferred
• BLS CPR required

• Experience as a nurse navigator, and/or patient educator in oncology
