Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU unit. This part-time day-shift position requires an RN license in Missouri, and a nursing degree (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).

The role uses the nursing process to deliver patient care, protects patient rights and confidentiality, and coordinates care with other departments. BLS is required within 30 days; ACLS/PALS/TNCC may be required as applicable.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of RN PACU experience preferred.
• Graduate of a school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current RN license in Missouri or compact license.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire; ACLS/PALS/TNCC may be required.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing/walking.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in PACU using the nursing process.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments.
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by direct caregivers.

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Department: PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Status: Part-Time - 8 hours/2 week pay period

Shift: Days

• Experience: At least 1 year of RN PACU experience is preferred.


• Required Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).


• Licensure: Current RN license within the state of Missouri and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed. Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining license. Must meet all state board of nursing requirements.


• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.


• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)


• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)


• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)


• Other unit specific certifications as required.


• Other: Physical requirements/demands:


• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.


• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.


• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
