Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the PACU team. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process, ensure patient rights, and collaborate with other departments to coordinate recovery after anesthesia.

This full-time day shift offers competitive benefits, sign-on bonuses up to $10,000 for experienced RNs and up to $7,500 for new grads, plus education bridging programs.

Qualifications

• RN license in Missouri and/or compact licensure; maintain licensure.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) or completion within 30 days.
• ACLS/PALS/TNCC or unit-specific certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain rights and confidentiality.
• Evaluates care effectiveness and coordinates patient care with other departments.
• Works in Pacu to support postoperative patient recovery.
• Maintains professional accountability and adheres to Mercy service standards.

Overview:

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Position Details:

Registered Nurse

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/week

Shift: Days (with call one night a week and every 6th weekend with another nurse)

Qualifications:

• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience is preferred.
• Required Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Current RN license within the state of Missouri and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed. Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining license. Must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), Other unit specific certifications as required.
• Other: Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
