Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the PACU team at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO. This part-time role covers day shifts and requires PACU experience, Missouri-registered licensure, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Applicants should have an RN across ADN, diploma, or BSN pathways and demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and collaborate with the care team to ensure patient safety and comfort in the recovery area.

Qualifications

• RN PACU experience preferred.
• Graduate from a school of nursing (ADN/Diploma/BSN).
• Current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Must meet state board requirements.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire; renew as required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for the care provided.

• Supports PACU operations and patient recovery workflow.

Position Details:

Registered Nurse

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Status: Part‑Time - 8 hours/2 week pay period

Shift: Days

Qualifications:

• Experience: At least 1 year of RN PACU experience is preferred.
• Required Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Current RN license within the state of Missouri and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed.
• Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining license.
• Must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
• One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Other unit specific certifications as required.
• Other: Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St.Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
