Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, FL, seeks a Staff RN for the Surgery Recovery Room. This full-time, day-shift role involves caring for pediatric post-operative patients in a fast-paced recovery environment.

Responsibilities include aseptic technique, monitoring patient status, pain management, and anticipating needs based on procedures. Requires Florida RN license and pediatric-focused life support certifications.

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license required.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire date.
• BLS within 1 month of hire date.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire date.
• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.
• Anticipate case‑specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Florida Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida. Credentialed from State Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi‑state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.

Work Experience

• One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required.
• Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.

What additional preferences we're seeking

• Minimum of 2 years pediatric experience.
• Previous PACU experience.
