Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent in Carmel, IN seeks an experienced PACU Registered Nurse to deliver professional perioperative care in the operative setting. You will scrub, circulate, monitor patient status, assist surgeons and prepare rooms and instruments for procedures.

The role is full‑time, days, with a 8am–8pm shift and required on‑call for nights and weekends. A valid Indiana RN license, ALS and BLS are required, with preference for PACU/critical care experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold RN license from Indiana Board of Nursing.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification within 6 months of hire.
• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub functions and assist with instrument handling during procedures.
• Perform circulating duties including monitoring patient condition and nursing care.
• Directly assist operating physician with hemostasis, suturing and exposure.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments/equipment for use.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.

• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.

• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.

• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• One or more of the following required:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

What additional preferences we're seeking

PACU or critical care experience preferred.

Shift is 8am-8pm, Monday - Friday. Night and weekend call required.
