Job summary

Johnson Memorial Health in Franklin, IN is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide surgical support within a fast-paced, collaborative team. The role emphasizes patient assessment, timely interventions, and safe, compassionate care. Our enhanced on-call structure offers a 45-minute response window to ensure readiness while maintaining work-life balance.

Monday–Thursday shifts, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with 80 hours every bi-weekly pay period.

Qualifications

• ASN or higher nursing degree required.
• Licensed RN in Indiana.
• BLS/CPR required; PALS for pediatric care if assigned.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records initial assessment and sets priorities by patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassesses patients to identify progress requiring intervention.
• Implements and documents timely interventions and responds to emergencies.
• Makes nursing decisions based on data and patient outcomes.
• Participates in patient education and discharge planning.
• Coordinates team assignments and communicates with unit staff; follows up on tasks.
• Maintains a neat, organized and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and supports Johnson Memorial Health mission.

Job Responsibilities

Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention. Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs and recognizes and responds to emergencies.Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome.Participates in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.Coordinates team assignments and make adjustments based upon patient and unit needs; follows up on delegated patient care tasks for quality and completeness. Utilizes appropriate chain of command for resolution of difficult issues.Participates in orientation of new staff.Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.Participates in the unit’s continuous quality improvement plan to improve organizational performance.Functions as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff; greeting them promptly and courteously.Performs other related duties as assigned.Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Education, Experience and Training

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana required. Minimum of ASN required. BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers Certification required. PALS Certification required for staff who are assigned to care for pediatric patients.
