Job summary

SIH is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care for patients and support their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the multidisciplinary team and document thoroughly in the medical record.

Prerequisites include an Illinois RN license, a nursing degree (AS/ Diploma/ BSN/ MSN) and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must hold nursing degree (any of the following: Associate, Diploma, Bachelor's, or Master's) in Nursing.
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR/BLS Card.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care with the care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote and maintain health.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment with critical thinking to recognize and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete timely documentation in the patient medical record.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development to support patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervise and delegate to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Advocate for the patient by communicating with health professionals.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level
