Job summary

Mercy RN position in a Level III NICU provides continuous, family-centered neonatal care adjacent to the Mother/Baby Unit. The role emphasizes teamwork with interdisciplinary staff and comprehensive care planning for infants as early as 26 weeks gestation.

Qualifications

• RN license in the hiring state or a compact licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, patient-centered care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary teams and direct caregivers.
• Uphold patient rights and maintain confidentiality per standards.
• Evaluate care effectiveness and adjust plans accordingly.
• Float to other Women’s and children’s units as needed.

Position Details:

The Level III NICU is a 24/7, multidisciplinary unit located adjacent to the Mother/Baby Unit, featuring private suites that support family-centered care. The team provides advanced neonatal care for infants as early as 26 weeks gestation, including therapies such as therapeutic hypothermia, high-frequency ventilation, and iNO. NRP and STABLE certification is required and can be completed once hired, and national specialty certification (RNC-NIC) is strongly encouraged.

Often floats to other Women's and children's units and is a great place to learn more about Labor and Birth and Mother/Baby.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
• Other unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
