Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN, seeks a PRN/Days Neuroscience RN in the Neurology department. You will care for patients with stroke and neurological disorders, obtain NIHSS certification, assist EMU monitoring, and manage wound care post-surgery.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS within 1 month of hire date.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from Tennessee Board of Nursing before hire date.
• Education: Diploma from accredited school/college of nursing or equivalent licensure.
• NIHSS certification preferred either before hire or during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with severe stroke, seizure and other neurological disorders.
• Become NIHSS Certified.
• Assist patients requiring EMU monitoring.
• Provide wound care and manage drainage tubes for post-surgical brain and spine procedures.
• Support patients with neuropsychological/behavioral health diagnoses.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

• NIHSS certification required either prior to hire or during initial orientation.
