Job summary

Ascension in Indianapolis, IN seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for Maternal Medicine to assess patient needs, prioritize urgency, and coordinate care across teams. The role supports safe transitions of care and rapid clinical decision-making during clinic hours.

Requirements include Indiana RN licensure, a nursing diploma, BLS, and 2+ years in Labor & Delivery or High-Risk OB; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. The position offers a Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date required.
• Bachelor's in Nursing preferred; 2+ years of Labor & Delivery and/or High-Risk OB experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid clinical assessments over the phone or in person, prioritizing patient needs based on urgency.
• Direct patients to appropriate level of care—urgent clinic visit, home care, or ER—to ensure safety and optimize clinic flow.
• Orchestrate cross-functional communication between patients, providers, and specialty teams for fast, well-coordinated care decisions.
• Execute and coordinate immediate clinical orders with precision during clinic visits.
• Educate patients on symptom management and next steps to support safe transitions of care.

• Direct patients to the appropriate level of care—whether scheduling an urgent clinic visit, advising on home care, or routing to the emergency room—to ensure patient safety and optimize clinic flow.


• Orchestrate cross-functional communication by serving as the central hub between patients, providers, and specialty teams for fast, well-coordinated care decisions.


• Execute and coordinate immediate clinical orders with precision, ensuring acute patient needs are addressed swiftly before or during their clinic visit.


• Empower patients with clear education regarding symptom management and next steps, ensuring they feel supported and safe during transitions of care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education
