Job summary

Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh, WI seeks an experienced nursing leader to oversee the Stepdown Intermediate Care unit. You will guide clinical excellence, mentor staff, and drive onboarding and professional development to sustain a compassionate, high-performing team.

You’ll identify operational bottlenecks, streamline workflows, manage budgets, and align staffing to deliver top-tier patient care while ensuring regulatory and accreditation standards are met.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Wisconsin required (or multi-state/Compact).
• BLS within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with 1 year in leadership.

• Champion clinical excellence by leading and empowering nursing associates, driving professional development, recruitment, and onboarding to cultivate a high-performing, compassionate healthcare team.
• Elevate patient care outcomes by proactively identifying operational bottlenecks, streamlining workflows, and ensuring full unit compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Direct strategic unit management by optimizing annual operational budgets, managing expenditures, and aligning staffing resources to ensure your team has everything needed to deliver top-tier care.
• Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement by analyzing clinical metrics, refining unit policies, and driving cross-functional collaboration across interdisciplinary leadership teams.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State. Licensure is dependent on state associate works in.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Hospital leadership experience preferred.
• Hospital nursing experience preferred.
