Job summary

Sheppard Pratt in Towson, MD is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit. This in-person role offers a 36-hour weekly schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM, focusing on psychiatric nursing care and collaborative treatment planning.

You will assess, administer treatments, educate patients and families, and provide day-to-day clinical direction to staff. Maryland RN licensure (or compact state) and CPR are required; prior psychiatric/geriatric experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current RN license in Maryland (or compact state) at appointment and maintain it during employment.
• Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
• Geriatric and/or Med-Surg experience preferred (at least 1 year)
• AHA CPR required before first day of employment
• Orientation/training starts immediately after first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessment, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care according to treatment plans.
• Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
• Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Provide day-to-day clinical direction to Mental Health Workers or other staff.
• Document and report patient progress to the treatment team.

Job description

Schedule: 36 hours weekly, 7 PM to 7AM. Type: In Person.

The Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unitis a 14-bed unit providing treatment for patients whose psychiatric symptoms may be the result of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative disorders or head traumas.

As a Registered Nurse/RN you will:

• Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
• Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
• Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
• Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
• Document and report patient progress to treatment team.

Requirements:

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred
• Preferred Geriatric and/or Med-Surg experience (at least 1 year)
• All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.
• AHA CPR required before first day of employment

What we need from you.

• Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment.
• Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.
• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred, but not necessary.
