Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Suffolk, VA is seeking an Oncology RN to support our cancer care team. The role includes administering chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under physician supervision, and ensuring patient safety throughout treatment.

The ideal candidate is a licensed RN, preferably BSN, with oncology experience and a willingness to travel between offices as needed; BCLS certification is required, and OCN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
• Oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Current RN state license required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Must be willing to travel between offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician
• Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions; initiates appropriate action
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow
• Phone triage as assigned
• Documents all elements of care
• Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider
• Assesses patient and family needs

Compensation Range

$31.85 - $64.75. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
