Job summary

Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is hiring a Staff RN Float for the overnight shift in the Float Pool. The role focuses on safe patient care across multiple units using the nursing process and requires rapid orientation and collaboration with physicians and families.

The position offers a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 and requires active RN licensure, BLS/ALS, and acute care experience; BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• One year acute care experience required.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to practice independently within 24 hours of arrival on the unit.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care across multiple units using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide patient/family teaching and guide other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Communicate with the physician about changes in patient condition and results of diagnostic studies.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality and adhere to EMTALA requirements.

Overview

Responsibilities

The Staff RN Float is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care across multiple units within credentialed competency levels, supporting coverage where demand exceeds core staffing. Practices as a fully accountable registered nurse in variable patient care units, is expected to orient quickly, seek information deliberately, and maintain the same level of care regardless of the setting. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
