Role Description

The Registered Nurse Float Pool role is a full-time, on-site position based in Corpus Christi, TX. The RN Float Pool team member provides direct patient care across multiple units and specialties, adapting quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations. Daily responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, developing and implementing nursing care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The RN documents care in accordance with hospital policies, supports patient and family education, and upholds safety, quality, and infection control standards. This role also involves responding to rapid changes in patient status, supporting staffing needs across the facility, and participating in ongoing professional development and unit-based initiatives.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas (or compact state eligibility) and current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, or other specialty certifications are preferred.


• Clinical experience in acute care settings, with the ability to float across multiple units such as medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, or critical care.


• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage multiple patients and rapidly changing conditions.


• Clear, respectful communication and collaboration skills for working with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.


• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) documentation, adherence to evidence-based practice, and commitment to patient safety and quality standards.


• Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and professionalism in new environments and high-acuity situations.


• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; BSN and national nursing certifications are highly beneficial.
