Job summary

Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals in Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse for our RN Float Pool to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across Ortho, MedSurg, Tele, and PCU units.

This full-time day shift includes rotating weekends. You will assess, document, educate, and advocate for patients while collaborating with care teams to achieve outstanding outcomes. Join a large, nationally recognized system with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.
  • Current RN in the State of TX or compact license.
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in acute care hospital within the last three years.
  • Experience working in Ortho, Med Surg, Tele, or PCU preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and every shift, reporting changes promptly.
  • Administer medications, monitor responses, and document care in the medical record.
  • Provide prompt, compassionate care and respond to patient requests.
  • Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.

Job Summary and Qualifications

* This is a Full Time Day shift position, 7:00am - 7:00pm, with rotating weekends *

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. As a Float Pool nurse, you may float to Ortho, MedSurg, Tele, and PCU.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.

  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.

  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.

  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing

  • Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Current RN in the State of TX or compact license

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

  • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

  • Minimum of one-year experience in acute care hospital within the last three years

  • Experience working in Ortho, Med Surg, Tele, or PCU preferred
