Job summary

Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL seeks a Staff RN Float to deliver safe nursing care across multiple units. The role requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, while maintaining professional standards and patient privacy.

Eligible candidates have an active RN license, BLS, ALS, and at least one year of acute care experience. PALS/ENPC and BSN are preferred; EMTALA expectations apply, with a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 offered.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certificate upon hire and maintain.
• ALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain.
• One year acute care experience required.
• PALS and/or ENPC within 60 days of hire and maintain.
• BSN preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to practice independently within 24 hours of arrival on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across multiple units within credentialed competency levels.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process.
• Orient quickly and seek information as needed while maintaining care standards.
• Teach and guide patients, families, and other staff; communicate with physicians about patient changes.
• Maintain patient privacy and comply with EMTALA and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

The Staff RN Float is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care across multiple units within credentialed competency levels, supporting coverage where demand exceeds core staffing. Practices as a fully accountable registered nurse in variable patient care units, is expected to orient quickly, seek information deliberately, and maintain the same level of care regardless of the setting. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
