Position Summary
The Float Registered Nurse provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Float Registered Nurse incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.
The Float Registered Nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Responsibilities include health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort, or dignified death. The Float Registered Nurse, within the scope of their education and experience, may delegate nursing tasks to other registered nurses and healthcare personnel, but remains fully responsible for patient outcomes.
The Float Registered Nurse must have excellent assessment, clinical, organizational, and computer skills, along with charge capabilities. The ability to lift, transfer, and move patients is required. Good verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. The nurse must also be able to perform mathematical computations necessary for treatment protocols.
