Job summary

New York Health (NYH) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Float position in Urology. You will provide care across multiple NYH locations, create care plans, monitor vitals, and support the physician during exams and procedures.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document progress, and educate patients and families on treatments and discharge instructions. This role requires NY RN licensure, strong assessment skills, EMR proficiency, and mobility to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN License.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching.
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.
• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized care plans for patients under your supervision and care.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
• Assist physician with exams and/or urologic procedures.
• Sterilize surgical instruments.
• Prepare and administer injections.
• Provide supportive resources to the patient and the families to promote a positive outlook.
• Teach patients and the families regarding treatment expectations.
• Watch and record the patient’s progress on a constant basis.
• Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
• Complete MAR after treatment.
• Provide the patient with discharge instructions that are specific to the patient as well as emergency numbers after care.

Location: Hewlett, Richmond Hill, Forest Hills, Massapequa

Hours/Days: 5/ 8.5 hours shifts M-F 7:30am - 5pm
