Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks experienced emergency department travelers for night shifts in Potsdam, NY. Responsibilities include acute patient care, trauma and stroke management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and IV/central line procedures.

Candidates should have ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications and at least 2 years in Level III trauma and primary stroke center settings. Local candidates are not accepted; travel eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in emergency medicine.
• Experience in Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center settings.
• CT/trauma and stroke care experience preferred within ED settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for general ED patients, adults and pediatrics.
• Manage dysrhythmias and monitor for multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Administer blood products and manage central lines and IVs.
• Care for ventilated patients, gunshot wounds, and traumatic injuries.

Shift Details

• 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM (considering 3 or 4 shifts per week)

Required Skills, Certifications, and Experience

Minimum Experience: 2 years

Required experience in Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center settings

Traveler Experience: Open to first-time travelers

Local Candidates: Not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles away

Skills:

• General Emergency Department – Combined Adult/Pediatric
• Non-Trauma Emergency Department
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Phlebotomy and IV insertion
• Continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
• Management of CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, ortho-trauma
• Care for abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia
• Identification and reporting of abuse
• Management of infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, respiratory infections, seizures
• Care for ventilated patients, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation

Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC

Job Details

• Shift: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (Nights), 36 or 48 hours shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends in a 4-week posted schedule)
• Patient Ratio Experience: 1:5
