Position Summary

Plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

1. Earned a nursing diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
2. Licensed in Tennessee.
3. Respond to hospital within thirty minutes for on-call duties.
4. One year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
5. BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
6. ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Perioperative Care.

Equipment and Skills:

Proficiency with standard patient care equipment, ability to work under pressure, independently and flexibly, and familiarity with systems such as Meditech, Pneumatic Tube, Omnicell, and Endoscopy equipment.

Physical Environment:

Endoscopy Unit serving patients from adolescence to over ninety-nine years old.

Physical Effort:

1. Communicate effectively in English.
2. Stand for up to twelve hours.
3. Lift and turn patients up to 250 lbs with assistance.
4. Transport patients on stretchers or beds as needed.

1. Perform comprehensive assessments upon admission.
2. Develop individualized care plans.
3. Coordinate care with team members.
4. Provide education and psychosocial support.
5. Operate treatments and equipment independently and according to policy.
6. Administer medications safely and accurately.
7. Document care accurately and promptly.
8. Reassess and modify care plans as needed.
9. Maintain a therapeutic environment.
10. Maintain current qualifications.
11. Support staff development and training.
12. Handle communications and special assignments responsibly.
13. Float to other surgical areas as necessary.
