Job Summary
The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. This role includes monitoring patient health, administering treatments, and educating patients and their families about dialysis options and kidney disease management.
Key Responsibilities
- Check and record patients’ vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatments.
- Ensure that hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments are administered correctly.
- Monitor patients during treatment to identify any adverse reactions and respond promptly.
- Prepare and update individualized nursing care plans.
- Notify the appropriate medical practitioner of any issues that arise during dialysis treatments.
- Collaborate with dialysis technicians to ensure that dialysis machines and equipment are set up properly.
- Educate patients and their family members on operating home dialysis machines if home therapy is chosen.
- Provide information on dialysis treatment options, kidney disease management, and suitable nutrition and exercise regimens.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- Valid state license to practice nursing.
- Proven experience as a dialysis nurse.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) is advantageous.
Skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and observational skills.
- Ability to operate dialysis machines effectively.
