Job summary

The New York Foundling Registered Nurse role delivers high-quality, person-centered medical care for individuals in the Developmental Disabilities Division. The RN conducts assessments, plans care, coordinates medical services, and trains staff to ensure safe, compliant care.

Requires NY RN license, 1+ year nursing experience, and preferred DD settings experience. Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and safety commitment are essential; BLS is required. Salary range posted.

Qualifications

• Current New York State RN license in good standing.
• 1+ years of nursing experience.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities in residential or community settings preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment skills to identify, monitor, and respond to changes in health status.
• Ability to educate and train staff on health topics, infection control, and emergency protocols.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain health records and comply with OPWDD standards.
• BLS certificate.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Assess medical conditions to develop targeted care plans.
• Conduct regular health assessments and nursing reviews; administer medications as prescribed.
• Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare providers to align care.
• Provide telephone triage and health consultations to staff and persons supported.
• Work with care teams to reduce avoidable hospitalizations or ER visits.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Train and oversee unlicensed staff in medication administration and health monitoring.
