Job summary

The New York Foundling in New York, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, person-centered medical care to individuals in our Developmental Disabilities program.

You will assess health needs, develop care plans, coordinate with physicians and families, provide telephone triage, oversee medication administration, train unlicensed staff, and ensure accurate health documentation in compliance with OPWDD and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• NY State RN license in good standing
• 1+ year nursing experience
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities in residential or community settings preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills to identify changes in health status
• Ability to educate and train staff on health topics and emergency protocols
• Strong organizational and documentation skills supporting OPWDD standards
• BLS certificate and commitment to safety

Responsibilities

• Assess medical conditions to develop targeted care plans and promote long-term well-being.
• Conduct health assessments and nursing reviews; administer treatments; monitor adverse reactions and trends.
• Coordinate with physicians, DSPs, families, and other providers to align care and reduce gaps.
• Provide telephone triage and urgent health management guidance to staff and clients.
• Work with the care team to reduce avoidable hospitalizations.
• Maintain accurate documentation; participate in audits and quality assurance.
• Train and oversee unlicensed staff in medication administration and health monitoring.
