Job summary

The New York Foundling is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, person-centered medical care for individuals supported by the Developmental Disabilities Division in New York. The RN will assess health needs, plan care, coordinate with doctors and families, and supervise unlicensed staff in medication administration and safety protocols.

Requirements include an active NYS RN license, 1+ year of nursing experience, and experience with developmental disabilities preferred.

Qualifications

• Current New York State RN license in good standing.
• 1+ years of nursing experience.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and health status monitoring.
• Ability to educate and train staff on health topics.
• Strong documentation and OPWDD compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assess medical conditions to develop targeted care plans and advocate for individuals served.
• Conduct regular health assessments and nursing reviews; administer medications and monitor for adverse effects.
• Coordinate with physicians, families, and other providers to align care and reduce gaps in medical management.
• Provide telephone triage and consultations to staff and individuals supported for urgent health concerns.
• Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with state/federal regulations (e.g., OPWDD, CMS, HIPAA).
• Train unlicensed staff in medication administration, health monitoring, and emergency protocols.
