Job description

The Deputy Women Veterans Program Manager (D-WVPM) Registered Nurse (RN) provides essential knowledge-based care to Veterans while developing technical skills. The D-WVPM oversees reproductive health care for women Veterans, including perinatal and infertility services outsourced to community providers. The RN supervises five RN perinatal care coordinators within the Women Veterans Health Program across 28 counties in East Texas.

Major Duties:

  1. Leadership and Oversight: Executes responsibilities demonstrating foundational leadership skills, participating in Women Veterans health program activities. Supervises 51% of perinatal care coordinators in the WVHP.
  2. Program Planning and Coordination: Plans, coordinates, and evaluates quality care delivery, including outreach to women Veterans. Develops and expands perinatal and reproductive health services to meet Veteran needs.
  3. Fertility Services: Manages VA fertility services, including care planning, fertility preservation, evaluation, treatment, and assisted reproductive technology (ART)/IVF benefits. Chairs the interdisciplinary fertility team, ensures compliance with federal directives, and facilitates reproductive health care and counseling for women Veterans and their families.
  4. Policy and Education: Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop policies, procedures, orientation, and training programs. Coordinates women Veterans' activities and develops resource materials.
  5. Quality Improvement: Conducts reviews and monitors gender-specific health indicators, evaluates reproductive health programs, and reports performance measures.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current, full, active, unrestricted RN license in the U.S.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous nurse management and informatics experience.
  • Experience with change management, interdisciplinary communication, mental health, and reproductive health care.

Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, operating vehicles, visual acuity, driver's license, and ability to work in various environments, including exposure to potentially combative patients and contaminated materials.
