Job summary

Ascension Health, a prominent healthcare system, is seeking an OR nurse/leader at Ascension St. John Jenks in Jenks, OK. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on orchestrating surgical flow, staffing, and ensuring resources are prepared for each case.

• Current BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or transfer date (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
• Registered Nurse (RN) required prior to hire or transfer date.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate Surgical Flow: manage real-time OR scheduling and case progressions to keep suites safe, on time, and with minimal delays.
• Balance Clinical Staffing & Acuity: align nursing staffing with case complexity to ensure patient coverage and productivity across ORs.
• Resolve Immediate Operational Roadblocks: serve as central contact during shifts, quickly addressing patient care concerns and physician requests.
• Ensure Surgical Preparedness: collaborate with materials and sterile processing to assure instrumentation and supplies are staged before each case.
• Mentor & Shape Surgical Talent: coach staff, review shift performance, and contribute to hiring and rotations for OR personnel.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Orchestrate Surgical Flow: Lead real-time OR scheduling and case progressions, adjusting room assignments and turnaround times on the fly to keep surgical suites running safely, on time, and without delays.
• Balance Clinical Staffing & Acuity: Direct and support shift staff by matching nursing expertise with case complexity, ensuring optimal patient coverage and maintaining productivity standards across all operating rooms.
• Resolve Immediate Operational Roadblocks: Serve as the central point of contact during surgical shifts, rapidly solving patient care concerns, physician requests, and unexpected schedule shifts to maintain a calm, efficient environment.
• Ensure Surgical Preparedness: Partner with materials and sterile processing teams to guarantee that specialized instrumentation, supplies, and clinical resources are fully staged and available before every case begins.
• Mentor & Shape Surgical Talent: Drive team excellence by providing hands‑on guidance, evaluating shift performance, and offering key input on hiring, room rotations, and professional growth for OR staff.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted.
• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
