Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes.
Overview:
The Responsibilities of the nuclear medicine technologist include an empathetic and instructional approach to patient care, the preparation, calibration and administration of radiopharmaceuticals (under the direction of an authorized user), the performance of quality control procedures and the operation of imaging, laboratory and computer instrumentation. This position oversees patient scheduling and assigning of duties to technologist in the absence of the supervisor.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform quality nuclear medicine imaging procedures to provide best patient care
Provide proper radiopharmaceuticals and prescribed dose for patient examinations
Processing of images: this task includes acquiring and labeling of images, processing and displaying final images for interpretation
Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff
Handle, utilize and dispose of radioactive materials properly
Education & Experience Requirements:
Associates degree ( required), Bachelor's degree ( preferred)
Satisfactory completion of an approved Nuclear Medicine program that meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT or NMTCB
Licensed by the State of New York
CT Certification ( ARRT or NMTCB)
