Job summary

University of Washington's UW Medical Center–Montlake Food and Nutrition Services seeks a Registered Dietitian to support inpatient care. This part-time 60% FTE role offers day shifts.

You will design evidence-based nutrition care plans for high-acuity inpatients, document progress in the EMR, and collaborate with the healthcare team on nutrition support and patient education. Participation in care conferences and protocol updates is expected.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within three (3) months of hire.
  • Washington State Dietitian Certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when a license, certification, or registration is required by law.

Job Overview

UW Medical Center–Montlake Food and Nutrition Services invites applications for a Registered Dietitian to support inpatient care.

Responsibilities
  • Design evidence‑based nutrition care plans for a high‑acuity inpatient population based on their nutrition diagnosis.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation and monitoring of patients by documenting their progression toward meeting prescribed goals in the electronic medical record and by communicating with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide recommendations for nutrition support, including diet prescriptions, tube feeding, and TPN.
  • Provide effective nutrition education to patients and their care providers, taking into consideration learning abilities, readiness, and cultural beliefs.
  • Actively participate in patient care conferences, discharge rounds, and other interdisciplinary care and process improvement teams.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge of best practices for nutrition and participate in developing and revising standards of care protocols.
  • Assist with the supervision and oversight of diet technicians.

This position requires an advanced understanding of the specific nutrition needs for surgical patients (gastric bypass, otolaryngology, cardiothoracic, GI surgeries), oncology, cardiology, BMT patients, solid organ transplant recipients, dialysis patients, and general medicine services.

Requirements

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay: $40.96 – $64.06
