Job summary

UW Medical Center-Northwest is seeking a per diem Dietitian for inpatient Oncology to assess nutritional needs, develop care plans, and collaborate with the care team in Seattle. The role focuses on evidence-based nutrition for patients and delivering education to patients and families.

Responsibilities include clinical rounds, documentation, and coordination with diet staff to ensure meals meet prescribed nutrition plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition or dietetics.
  • Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within three months of hire.
  • Washington State Dietitian Certification within six months of hire.
  • Equivalent education/experience acceptable per legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients’ diet, nutritional needs, and lifestyle.
  • Develops comprehensive nutritional care plans to promote disease prevention and treatment for assigned patients; initiates consultation with health care team (including physicians).
  • Documents care plan, results, and services provided.
  • Participates with health care team on clinical rounds and patient care conferences.
  • Educates inpatients on nutrition and diet; participates in outpatient nutrition clinic and group nutrition education classes as assigned.
  • Analyzes effectiveness of services – financial/patient outcomes.
  • Assists in development and implementation of nutritional standards of care.
  • Participates in performance/quality improvement programs.
  • Participates in compliance activities to meet Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Supports patient satisfaction and customer service initiatives.
  • Works closely with diet technicians, diet clerks, and other staff to ensure meals align with care plan.
