Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Wichita Falls is hiring a Registered Dental Assistant I to support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, and instruments. The role assists faculty, residents, and students in clinics in accordance with the State Dental Practice Act.

Under direct supervision, you will manage charts, supplies, and infection control while supporting x-ray imaging and EMR entries. This full-time position offers a dynamic environment within TTUHSC.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent.
  • 1 year of related experience or completion of an approved dental assistant course.
  • Dental Assistant registry with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentist or hygienist at chair side.
  • Administer Plaque Index test and provide oral hygiene instructions.
  • Gather charts, equipment, and supplies for dental appointments.
  • Practice infection control procedures per policy guidelines.
  • Expose and develop dental x-rays using EVAsoft software.
  • Count instruments and maintain logs of use.
  • Document information in patient records and assist with notes in EMR.
  • Answer routine questions and refer to the dentist.
  • Take vital signs prior to invasive procedures.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist dentist or hygienist at chair side.
  • Administer Plaque Index test and provides oral hygieneinstructions to patients.
  • Gathers charts, equipment and supplies in a timely manner foruse during dental appointments.
  • Practices infection control procedures according to policyguidelines in Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Exposes and develops dental x-rays; will be proficient with theuse of the EVAsoft Dental Imaging Software.
  • Counts instruments and sharps and maintains logs of use.
  • Documents information into dental record of care; will assistwith the typing of the doctor's patient treatment notes forinclusion into the EMR system.
  • Answers routine questions and refers others to thedentist.
  • Takes vital signs and records information in record prior toinvasive procedures.
