Job summary

SFPUC in San Francisco seeks a System Operations Manager (0941) for the Water Supply Treatment Division. The role oversees the Regional Water System, directs operations, and develops staff to ensure reliable drinking water services 24/7.

Ideal candidate has 4+ years of managerial experience in water facilities, CA Grade V Water Treatment or CA PE license, and strong leadership and budgeting skills for a large public utility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; plus 4 years of verified managerial experience in water treatment facilities with supervisory experience.
• Possession of a CA Grade V Water Treatment Operator Certificate or a CA Professional Engineering license; and a valid CA driver's license.
• Education substitution: additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications by the filing date and may be required to verification documents.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations of Regional Water System; plan, organize, direct, and control facility operations.
• Direct and develop SysOps personnel; supervise and provide coaching and performance reviews.
• Administer budgets, contracts, and personnel processes; ensure continuity and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with other divisions and agencies to ensure customer service and environmental stewardship.
• Represent SFPUC with officials and institutions regarding water treatment and purification.
