Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) seeks a Water Systems Supervisor to oversee the 24-hour Operations Control Center that monitors and controls the regional water system. This leadership role requires coordinating capital improvement projects, directing staff, and ensuring reliability and safety of water operations.

The position includes responding to emergencies, maintaining system configurations, and working within SPU’s commitment to equity and safety. Schedule is on-site five days per week.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of lead or supervisory experience in water systems operation.
• Two years of college toward an Associate degree in Waterworks, Water Management, or equivalent Water Resource degree.
• Combinations of education, training, certification, and experience will be evaluated for comparability.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the 24-hour operation of the Operations Control Center.
• Provides technical support and coordination for capital improvement projects (CIP).
• Supervises the work of subordinate staff.
• Plans, coordinates, and supervises water system configuration changes in routine operations, CIP, and maintenance.
• Responds to emergencies as needed.
