Job summary

SCDES is hiring a Regional Water Engineering Associate to provide engineering expertise for drinking water and wastewater programs and related environmental projects in South Carolina.

You will review technical documents, perform inspections, respond to public inquiries, and assist regulated communities with engineering reports and monitoring requirements while collaborating with a team and engaging in periodic trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required with ABET accreditation or approved equivalency letter.
• ABET accreditation or state-equivalent recognition required for engineering degree.

Responsibilities

• Reviews preliminary engineering reports, plans, and specs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conducts construction, final and operation inspections of environmental facilities with discretionary action.
• Responds to public complaints and takes appropriate follow-up actions.
• Assists engineers and operators with engineering reports and monitoring documents.
• Attends periodic staff meetings and training; performs other duties as required.
