Job summary

Veolia in California seeks a traveling Wastewater Operations Technician to cover vacations and absences at multiple facilities and train local teams. You will troubleshoot processes, perform routine and preventive maintenance, collect samples, and maintain thorough records while coordinating with the SWOT team for start-ups.

The role requires willingness to travel 1–2 weeks at a time, sometimes up to a month, and a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and collaboration with Veolia management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google equivalents.
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to wastewater treatment processes.
• 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational coverage of Veolia facilities in designated region during vacations/absences.
• Develop training resources and mentor local technicians.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices across facilities.
• Support new account start-ups with operations tasks and training.
• Troubleshoot process issues and optimize treatment performance.
• Operate pumps, motors, and valves to regulate wastewater flow.
• Collect and test wastewater samples and document results.
• Collaborate with Veolia management to optimize plant operations.
