Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Technician to support the Regional Program in construction inspection and field office work. The role involves independent work and may include Chief Inspector or Resident Inspector duties on active projects.

You will verify workmanship, test materials, and ensure adherence to standards and contracts while coordinating with project managers and private contractors.

Qualifications

• Education, training, or experience in engineering or a technical field demonstrating ability to review technical plans and reports.
• Experience collecting data and analyzing datasets for trends.
• Ability to draft diagrams and formal reports for projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as inspector by inspecting, verifying, measuring and documenting work by private Contractors.
• Monitor and enforce Traffic Control Plan, Soil Erosion, and Quality Control Plans.
• Perform high-quality sampling and testing of construction materials.
• Detail, design and estimate quantities for pavement preservation or rehabilitation projects.
